John has been organising this annual event for a number of years. Part of the ULI UK Capital Markets programme, it will look at the state of the UK REIT's market, recent legislative changes, current challenges and opportunities, the possibility or otherwise of launching a new REIT and a variety of other topical issues for the listed sector. AREF Seminar, Capital Flows: Navigating Pension Reform and Regulatory Shifts

John will be moderating this seminar, which is a follow-up to the capital flows panel at the AREF conference in June. On that occasion, two of the star panellists, Mhairi Jackson, Asset Management Policy Manager, Financial Conduct Authority and Shalin Bhagwan, Chief Actuary and Interim CFO, Pension Protection Fund, had to withdraw from the panel late in the day due a change in the interpretation of the pre-election purdah rules. Since then, we have had a change in government, but momentum has been maintained for the pension and investment reform agenda. Mhairi. and Shalin will pick up where we left off in June on how regulatory changes are impacting capital flows, with a particular focus on the transition from Defined Benefit (DB) to Defined Contribution (DC) pension plans.
